After Campbell’s baptism, Hurricane Ike rolled in and upset our normal life for a little while. Campbell adapted fine to sleeping in a diaper with no swaddle and really had no idea that anything wasn’t normal. Her bathtime by flashlight might have confused her a little, but it was probably a nice treat from the heat and stillness. Our neighbors were wonderful and invited us over each night to enjoy their generator that provided air conditioning and TV. This allowed us to wind down for the night.
Luckily the weekend that the temperature started to increase we had a family wedding to go to in Bryan. My cousin Ryan Ewing married Megan Davis so we already had a hotel room reserved and a treat it was. We enjoyed the rehearsal dinner, ladies lunch, and wedding all with my dad’s family. Campbell was a trooper during all events and adjusted to her later bedtime. Everyone thought she was cute of course!
In the meantime, Campbell turned 3 months old. When the weather changed the first week after the hurricane, she got allergies like everyone else. However, there is no treatment for anyone under 6 months old except some “Little Noses” saline drops that seemed to help. She ended getting her weight checked and came out 13 pounds and one ounce!
Campbell was baptized this past Sunday! What a wonderful day and she looked absolutely beautiful in the gown my mom made her. It was a very special moment to share her with our church, family, and friends as she became God’s special child. It was also special to be able to say that we will do our absolute best to raise her in a Christian home and make God the center of our family. We had lunch at our home afterwards and had a good turn out. I was also proud of my party favors…a cross cookie cutter! It was our first “event” celebrating a milestone in Campbell’s life and turn-out a lot of fun and relatively stress-free…thanks to HEB and Kroger
I had a wonderful time planning from the invitations to party favors and hope Campbell can look back at the memories we captured to be reminded of her special day.
Earlier that week, Campbell went to the church nursery for the first time. I finally am able to attend a during the day Bible Study at our church and it seems a good way to introduce Campbell to the church nursery while there are not that many other kids there. I didn’t know they got “reports” when you pick them up, but Campbell had a wonderful report. She had happy, friendly, and busy checked on her sheet and got rave reviews from the nursery workers about what a good baby she is! Well, of course!
The study is of Proverbs by Beth Moore and the first session was great. I’m going to look forward to this every week and feel good that Campbell is doing well at the nursery.
I also started tutoring this past week. I have three students on Wednesday nights. It was actually enjoyable to be able to work with them individually and I felt that I did some good. It’s even nicer to sit and do math problems in the evening when you haven’t been doing them all day. Tutoring is a pretty good little business…if you can call it that…
