Omaha - Dallas map It has been a bit since I have been active on here as some of you might have noticed. The reason for that is the fact that I am moving down to Dallas, TX in the next couple of weeks. Omaha has treated me well, but it is time to get back to where I would really like to be — Texas!

I have been running around like a crazy person with the move, my wedding coming up [35 days], and life happening all at the same time. It’s all happening so fast, but it’s going to be a great ride. It’s going to be a pretty crazy month ahead, but once things slow down again, life will be back to normal [with the exception of the whole marriage thing].

I have to admit, even in the craziness, life is pretty incredible right now.

To all my Texas friends: I will see you soon!

Anything Above Freezing Will Do

I will be spending the weekend in Texas. Oh to get away from freezing wind and negative temperatures [anything above 6 degrees is just dandy]. Even if it is only for 3 days in an southern state, I surely will not complain. I doubt there is anyone out there more excited about their weekend than I am. I hope everyone has a great one.

Be checking back soon for some cool projects that are in the works.  More on that soon…

Tools of the Trade

People ask me about the rig that I use for my design work on a fairly regular basis. This is for those people, as an attempt to make known what I use, but also to educate on how to piece together a nice setup.

I know there are a lot of designers out there that have their own opinions about what makes up the perfect design rig. While it seems that most like a sexy Apple setup, I still meet the occasional few who swear by their windows machine [the windows users will see the light one day]. I myself am definitely a Mac man, and will continue to be until the very day that I die. Some men love their Chevy trucks. Some men love their dogs. This man loves his Apple products; enough said.

Motion Graphics? Sure, why not?

I am getting married pretty soon. The first of March, two thousand and eight to be exact. So the other day I was pondering what might be a nice way to spice up the rehearsal dinner a bit.  I have been to other dinners where they show a nice picture slide show to show pictures of the couple growing up, together, etc.

I want to attempt to capture that same sort of sentimental vibe, but find a way to take the average picture slide show to the next level.  Being a creative professional, I can’t just throw something together in Powerpoint and call it a day.  I would never hear the end of that from select friends and family members.  I am always looking to try new things, so I figured this would be as good a time as any to jump in the wild world of motion graphics.  Hmm.

I guess I wrote all of this to say…

I honestly don’t know what in the world I am doing.  But I figured since I am getting married [which I have never done before either], I should pair that up with another “first” for me.

Assuming things turn out well I will post the final product on here for the world to see. Time will tell.  Wish me luck.

Only 365 Days Left in 2008

Freelance, Life No Comments »

Well it is officially the new year, and the holidays are over. It is time to get back to our daily lives in the real world and start counting down the days until next Christmas. [Perhaps next year you can get that Nintendo Wii Station you asked for?] All that being said, I have enjoyed the time away from my technologically driven daily life. Having the chance to step away my trusty Mac has been such a perfect vacation, but I am very excited for the new year and getting back to the grind.

I can’t wait to start up the freelance machine and get some new projects moving in the new year. I have some good leads left over from 2007, but I am definitely looking for new clients and projects. I love meeting new people and helping them to fulfill their dreams in the world of print and web design.

If you are at all interested in learning more about how I can help, you should head over to my contact page get in touch with me. Let’s talk.
