Sometimes I like to read another freelance designers thought process behind what makes their business tick. This is a great blog that talks about many different areas of the process.
Don’t just start reading this blog from where it is. Make sure you go back and read the archives. They have some great content that anyone can learn a thing or two from. Enjoy.

Here is a fun little diversion for a Friday. This post will be short on the text and heavy on the links. I have been evaluating lots of websites recently in an effort to find great sites that all have different aspects of them to inspire upcoming projects.
I thought I would take a couple minutes to create a list of really cool sites to share. I hope you find some things you like in these sites. From great functionality to awesome visuals, there is something in these sites for everyone. There is really a huge mix of content here, but feel free to leave comments with any great websites I might have missed. Hit the jump to check out the goods…

Recently I have been getting in the zone on a couple of upcoming projects. I am using these projects as an excuse to spend insane amounts of time combing through all kinds of websites looking for ideas, inspiration, and perhaps learn a few things. I have been looking specifically through designs of different newspapers around the world, as I think they will really help bring my concepts and ideas together as I start these upcoming projects, that are pretty heavily influenced by periodical layouts.
I know what I think of when someone mentions a newspaper [lame, boring, too much content crammed into too small of a space, nothing of visual interest, etc.], but after expanding my horizons, it is very obvious that there is some great layout and design work out there in what seems to be a pretty cut and dry genre.
What is interests me the most as I was looking through literally hundreds of different layouts is seeing how their content flows. Certainly, there are some very cool looking papers out there, but some of them had a horrible flow to them. Actually reading the content of some of these could easily induce a painful headache, while others had such a smooth flow that was put together beautifully in a way that makes reading it enjoyable. Obviously at the end of the day, the most important design aspect of a periodical is how easy it is read from start to finish. Now, content on the other hand is an entirely different story. I will not even begin to go there…

Just another day on another Flickr adventure. I came across some fantastic photography by Hugo*. This is a great collection of shots from all over the world. The one thing that really stands out to me is the amazing way that Hugo* captures people in their surroundings. You truly feel the emotion of every shot in this collection. The emotions are all over the board, so it is a real joy moving from one photo to the next.
You may want to clear out an entire afternoon to check these out, as there are well over 150 pages in this gallery. It’s well worth taking the time to see them all, as you will have the opportunity travel the world through Hugo*‘s camera lense.

Some people like to kill time online playing Scrabulous[don't kid yourself, I do too], but I find myself spending a lot of time on Flickr just rummaging through other peoples’ lives by way of their photographs. I just happened to run across this particular profile created by infamecless’ that had some great collage work.
Most of infamecless’ work seems to be done by hand and then photographed. His style is very apparent in his pieces, as he pulls so many different elements together to create quite intricate projects. I enjoyed digging through his pieces, and I think it is definitely worth checking out. It is great inspiration, and quite mind bending trying to figure out the meanings behind some of his work.
