A New Addiction — TheSixtyOne.com

Music You say it.

The Sixty One

Let us pretend that the guys over at digg.com decided to create a website that was very similar in purpose and function, except it is geared 100% toward music. Well, its not done by the digg guys, but thesixtyone.com is a great new music community that is geared towards promoting up and coming artists as well as a few artists you have seen around before.

It seems like a pretty unassuming online experience when you first arrive at the site. After you sign up for an account you really start to see how deep and quite addictive this site really is. What sucked me in so quickly was the way that “bumping” [similar to digging items on digg.com] artists gives them more points to move to the top. As you find new artists you like you find a strange attachment to them and want them to move to the main page and be on top. Not only that, but as the artists you “bump” move up in the ranks, you earn points to go towards moving your account to a higher level. It sounds complicated, but when you start you will get the hang of it.

If you have any sort of interest in checking out new music or just want to kill some time online, you should definitely check out thesixtyone.com.
